The Ice Pine Palace Blog seeks to be a resource for charter schools and homeschoolers in the areas of East Asian foreign language education and literature, as well as for anyone with a general interest in East Asia or literature.
This blog will feature two types of discussions: one will be on literature available in English translation that provides context, cultural notes and personal observations; the other will be English-language capsules with spoilers for fiction that has not been and will not likely ever be translated into English. These capsules will provide details that allow potential educators to evaluate the work in question for suitability for student reading. Some will be of literary and cultural significance, though not all of the selections will. There is a great deal of work beyond the language barrier that is unknown to English speakers that I hope to introduce here.
